Demanding audiences kept being entrusted to Howard.

Valtech's relationship with Howard Pearlmutter included advanced teaching, strategic course development, consulting, and executive briefings.

The assignments matter because the audiences already had expertise. The explanation had to supply substance they could recognize and use.

Eric Mouilleron, Managing Director of Valtech Ltd., described Howard's delivery of its flagship Java Enterprise Architectures course and development of a new systems architecture course. He wrote:

“Howard has always exhibited the two key qualities of a good trainer: contagious enthusiasm and impeccable technical expertise.”

The combination is valuable. Energy can help an audience engage; depth gives the engagement a useful place to go.

Later recommendations described Howard's work with advanced developers and architects at Capital One, where enterprise architecture and XML material were combined in accelerated form.

A different assignment required compression: a three-day intensive course became a sixty-minute strategic briefing for Sun Microsystems, Nokia, and CSC on Java in mobile infrastructure.

At Goldman Sachs, Howard applied his Goldmine & Greenfield model to difficult legacy-migration questions. Nick DeToustain, who attended, emphasized both his grasp of technology and his ability to apply it to the firm's domain.

DeToustain wrote that Howard “packs a top-tier multi-disciplinary international management consultancy into a single body.”

These are different forms of teaching. The audience's purpose determined what the explanation needed to do.

For your group, that is a practical starting standard. Which distinction will help people with the work they carry? What foundation do they need? How much depth should the example contain? Where would participation make the learning more useful?

The valuable lesson is the fit among expertise, explanation, audience, and purpose.
